The year that I went it was very busy, seemed like thousands of people. The parade was loads of fun and there were lots of floats. It was a gorgeously sunny day. The actual "festival" took place in a field and there was 1 "main" tent, too busy to actually get in but it was quite small anyway. There was lots of vendor stalls, selling food mainly. That was about it, everyone was just sat in a big field.. There was about 5 portable toilets for the thousands of people so most people were just using the bushes for their number 1's and 2's, imagine the smell of all those people using the surrounding trees and bushes for toilets.. yeah it was gross. I went across the road and used the facilities at the hotel, they charged a quid each time but it was worth every penny! They must make loads of spare cash... After the festival we couldn't stay and hit the town (unfortunately) so we headed to the train station and got attacked by some homophobic knobheads. They even broke my pride flag :(. However I would go back as I hear some things have improved.

For Sheffield, you're not going to find anything better for a while. Climax is sometimes on each month, sometimes it just randomly stops.. the day of the month seems to change a lot too so you need to keep up to date with it sometimes.. It's best when it's at the Sheff Union, it's a large venue (for what it is) and there's usually a decent sized crowd there. The music is good, theres different rooms, 3 bars and lots of toilets so not much queuing for them! I've always had a good time here.

I've been a few times to this Pride, the last time I went it started raining but I don't think that was the reason why it was almost empty. The music cut out or stopped working for a bit. The stalls were pretty sad looking. Sheffield seems to be trying but what can you expect when one of the largest cities in the UK has only 1 gay bar... I think it would do better at Weston Park rather than endcliffe or sheff union.

I've been here far too many times and I Feel dirty and ashamed. But if you want a gay bar in Sheff you have no choice. Maybe one or two of the staff are nice but the rest are just horrible. horrible to look at, even worse when they speak. Bar flies and little queens, that's what you'll find at dempseys. Everything about it has seen better days.. I don't know what else to say without ripping it apart.

When we went it was raining, ofc... and there was no one else there! Well that's not quite true, there was 3 lesbians in a tent who looked more shocked to see us than we were to see them. I can't say more because it was none existent when we went but maybe we just caught it on a bad year. Anyway we hurried off to one of the gay bars (which has since closed), the electric went out in the pub/bar and everyone just sat there in the dark. Someone forgot to pay the electric bill? When the lights came on about 30 mins later there was a puddle of sick in front of the bar.. it's probably for the best it closed. However having said all that we had a great time at the amusements and sea-life centre and some of the other bars were okay.

When we went we were very drunk so it's mostly a blur but I had a great time, stumbled into loads of people and no one seemed to mind. THe music was pumping and we stayed till the very end. I would definitely go again if I'm ever in leeds again.

If you live in Sheffield and need something different (from dempseys) then once a week you can escape to i-candy and leave all your troubles behind (in dempseys). You'll probably enjoy it the first couple of times but it starts to be more of a hassle to get to than its worth (if not from chesterfield and not driving due to alcohol).

Is it closed? is it open? who knows! I think it's more stable now, like a proper oak. It's got a lot of attitude for such a small place and for its location, middlesbrough isnt the best place afterall. But it's doing loads for the gay scene and I loved it when I lived up there.

We popped in here on a pride weekend, although pride was empty this place was quite busy and buzzing! We had good time but we didnt stay long because we had lots to see and do in blackpool.

We went here during the day and spent most of the time sat outside in the sunshine, the atmosphere was great. its a nice place to meet up at. I would go back next time i'm down there
