Salford Pride was first founded in 2011, as the organising committee for the first Peel Park Pink Picnic. In 2017, after 7 years of organising Salford's annual Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Trans and Non-binary, plus (LGBT+) pride celebration, the decision was made to change the name of the event to The Pink Picnic, the following year, in 2018, the organisation was renamed Salford Pride. The decision behind the change of name was to allow the team to deliver alternative projects for the LGBT+ community throughout the year as well as The Pink Picnic. Salford Pride became a registered charity in England and Wales on 20th January 2020.
Salford Pride delivers Salford’s annual pride event, The Pink Picnic, and other fundraising, awareness and educational projects for the LGBT+ community that are open to all to attend and enjoy - no matter how they identify; promoting equality, inclusion and community cohesion.
